Behind The Scenes: Makeover by Vasanti Artist Misha Miranda

Vasanti Makeover

Misha Miranda (seen in the pic above making over a gorgeous model) is one of our talented Vasanti Makeup Artists.  We asked Misha to create the look above using some of her favourite Vasanti products and to share with us how she got into the industry.

Why did you become a makeup artist?

From a young age I always wanted to pursue the opportunity to be a Makeup Artist because I always loved wearing makeup and playing around with different shadows and lip colors.  In 2012, I finally decided to pursue my dream and became certified as a Makeup Artist from the School of Professional Makeup as a Makeup Artist.  I started working with Vasanti Cosmetics in June 2012 because I absolutely love the products!!

What are you favourite Vasanti products?

I love them all but if I had to choose my top 3 products they would be V3 Liquid Cover Up, Denmark Lipstick and Brazilian Bronzer.

Can you tell us about the look you created on your model and what products were used?

The look I created is sexy and smoky,  perfect for a night out.  I first primed the skin around the eye with Eye Wonder Eye Cream to keep the eye area really moist and hydrated.  My model Kirtina has really gorgeous skin so I just used some Liquid Cover Up in V3 where she needed a little coverage and evened out her skin with Face Base powder in V4. I love to use Brazilian Bronzer as a contour shade, so I did some contouring under the cheek bones and then used Andes Blush, an apricot shade, just on the apples of the cheeks.  For the eyes I used Statue Of Liberty Eyeshadow Duo - I used the Topaz shade on the lid and blended the Emerald shade into the crease.  I lined the top and bottom waterline with Kajal Extreme Eyeliner and then blended the Emerald shadow shade along the bottom lash line. Lashes were curled and given two coats of lengthening mascara.  For the lips I used Sweden Lipstick which is a pinky nude shade and then added some shimmer with Bali Lip Gloss.

Superbowl Inspired Eyeshadow – Get the Look

Well, the Ravens won the Superbowl, Beyoncé's halftime show was shockingly good and even though the power went out, it just gave us a chance to consume some more fried treats before continuing on with the game.  Blogger and makeup artist Sandip at Makeup By Sand was inspired by the winning Superbowl team to create this bold, colourful look using all Vasanti products.  Here's the list of the products she used to get this look:

Outer Corner – Eye Base – Kajal Extreme Intense Eye Pencil
Brow Bone – Light shade from Golden Temple Eye Shadow Duo
Inner to Mid LidMineral Shimmer Powder in Bronze Age (Lined along lash line)
Outer LidMineral Shimmer Powder in Twilight (Lined along lash line)
Waterline & Lower Lash lineKajal Extreme Intense Eye Pencil

The MVP of this makeup look was definitely Kajal Extreme Intense Black Eye Pencil.  Sandip let us in on a great tip to get bolder looks with shimmer powder: By using Kajal Extreme as a base on the eye lid outer corner, and applying shimmer powder over top, the colour naturally intensifies on application.

Get The Look: South Asian Bridal Makeover

In South Asian weddings, makeup often completes the traditional bridal look.  In this edition of "Get The Look", our head makeup artist Gargi Patel, takes us step by step through a beautiful, natural looking South Asian bridal makeover.

GP: I started with Wonders of The World Concealer in O2, I used the orange shade specifically to counteract the dark pigmentation under and around the eye area and I used the beige shade on top of the eyelids to brighten the eye area and to help the eyeshadow hold all day, it's important in bridal makeup to ensure the makeup lasts as long as possible.  Concealer was followed up with Liquid Cover Up Foundation in V3 and then Face Base Powder Foundation in V3 was brushed overtop to set the makeup and add brightness.

Once the base is set I like to move on to cheeks, I used Everest Blush, a lustrous pink shade to define the cheek bones and add brightness. From there, I moved on to highlighting the face with Arctic Shimmer, a silvery shimmer powder.  Ths shimmer powder was brushed lightly onto the bridge and tip of the nose, below the brows and along the cheekbones.

South Asian bridal makeup is all about bringing focus to the eyes.  For this look I used Golden Temple Silky Eyeshadow.  I brushed the lighter gold shade all over the lid as a base and placed the darker bronzed berry shade in the crease.  To add drama, I applied Cleopatra Liquid Eyeliner along the top lash line, creating quite a thick line especially at the outer corners. I used a new Vasanti product, Kajal Extreme Intense Eye Pencil to line the bottom waterline and blended it with the darker shade from the Golden Temple Duo.  I love working with the Kajal Extreme Pencil, it's super creamy and blendable but once it sets, it's so long lasting.  I finished off the eyes with black Long Lash Mascara to create full, long looking fringe.

For the lips I wanted to use a lighter shade to keep the focus on the eyes.  I used Luxembourg Lipstick, a universae nude shade and topped it with Norwegian Lipshine for added shine.

The look turned out perfectly, she looks gorgeous but still natural!

Get The Look – Colourful Smokey Eye

When we think of a smokey eye we traditionally think of working with dark, neutral eyeshadows like blacks, greys and browns and while we do love the traditional, we also love experimenting with colour.  In this edition of "Get The Look" we're going to outline the steps in creating a  colourful smokey eye like in the pic above.
