Behind The Scenes: Makeover by Vasanti Artist Misha Miranda

Misha Miranda (seen in the pic above making over a gorgeous model) is one of our talented Vasanti Makeup Artists. We asked Misha to create the look above using some of her favourite Vasanti products and to share with us how she got into the industry.

Why did you become a makeup artist?

From a young age I always wanted to pursue the opportunity to be a Makeup Artist because I always loved wearing makeup and playing around with different shadows and lip colors. In 2012, I finally decided to pursue my dream and became certified as a Makeup Artist from the School of Professional Makeup as a Makeup Artist. I started working with Vasanti Cosmetics in June 2012 because I absolutely love the products!!

What are you favourite Vasanti products?

I love them all but if I had to choose my top 3 products they would be V3 Liquid Cover Up, Denmark Lipstick and Brazilian Bronzer.

Can you tell us about the look you created on your model and what products were used?

The look I created is sexy and smoky, perfect for a night out. I first primed the skin around the eye with Eye Wonder Eye Cream to keep the eye area really moist and hydrated. My model Kirtina has really gorgeous skin so I just used some Liquid Cover Up in V3 where she needed a little coverage and evened out her skin with Face Base powder in V4. I love to use Brazilian Bronzer as a contour shade, so I did some contouring under the cheek bones and then used Andes Blush, an apricot shade, just on the apples of the cheeks. For the eyes I used Statue Of Liberty Eyeshadow Duo - I used the Topaz shade on the lid and blended the Emerald shade into the crease. I lined the top and bottom waterline with Kajal Extreme Eyeliner and then blended the Emerald shadow shade along the bottom lash line. Lashes were curled and given two coats of lengthening mascara. For the lips I used Sweden Lipstick which is a pinky nude shade and then added some shimmer with Bali Lip Gloss.

I chose to work in the beauty industry because…

I have always been in love with everything creative, such as art, painting and especially makeup, for as long as I can remember. For years, my family and friends came to me for makeup application or product recommendations and over the course of my life, I took my hobby and passion and am very lucky to have turned it into a career that I love! I love this industry because I have been able to help, advise and importantly put a smile on someone’s face because I have given them added confidence. Helping someone feel great about how they look so that they can in turn use that confidence to achieve their goals and dreams is what drives me in this industry. Helping people feel amazing and confident, there is no feeling quite like it!

My favourite Vasanti product is…

Picking one product from this line is near impossible! My Liquid Cover in V4 is my beauty secret, it helps to conceal, brighten and gives me glowing looking skin! I use very little to achieve my fresh face and then finishing off with the V4 Face Base is icing on the cake for me. I have combination skin and both products are Oil Free, which I love and I get smooth coverage and flawless skin! Last but not least is Golden Temple Eyeshadow Duo! The colours in this duo are beautiful together, which are great for everyday and give me the option to make my eyes dramatic as my mood allows.

I'm inspired by….

My inspiration comes from a variety of things such as love, music, books, art, photography as well as fellow makeup artists, friends and family. I am constantly observing things around me whether it be a hot fashion item, a new hair trend or thought provoking book. What I love about my job, is that I get to hear amazing feedback from our customers on how the Vasanti products have helped them and give them confidence which inspires me also.

My favourite place in the world is…
On a sandy beach with a view of the water.

The three things I can't live without….
My IPOD, my laptop and my curry chicken.

My favourite beauty tip is…

Adding a touch of a light shimmer powder or light sparkly gloss to the centre of the bottom of the lips and to your cupids bow for added fullness and dimension. Gives you a sexy pout!

Miri has worked in the beauty industry for over 18 years and is a long time Vasanti Girl. She works in our digital marketing department now, but has held many roles for Vasanti in the 10 years we have known her.

I chose to work in the beauty industry because…

I've always been fascinated with makeup, when I was in high school I found a book on theatrical makeup and spent hours in my room recreating the looks. I love working in this industry for so many reasons but what keeps me coming back every day are the people – people who work in beauty are passionate and creative and a lot of fun to be around. I get a glimpse into the beauty world that very few people get to see, what goes into new product development, the challenges of standing out in a crowded marketplace and deciding how to best communicate the Vasanti message of "I Love My Colour" to our fans.

My favourite Vasanti product is…

This is a tough one! I guess if I had to choose my favourite products they would be Liquid Cover Up in V0 because of it's natural finish and great coverage and Belarus Lipstick (which I'm wearing in the picture above) because it really brightens up my face. I'm also a tad obsessed with Monoi Magic right now, I use it on my face as a moisturizer and I've been using it as a weekly hair treatment to help with dryness and flyaways.

I'm inspired by….

So many things – music, books, blogs, friends. We get a lot of inspiration in the office from Vasanti Girls and our customers, nothing gets us motivated more than comments and pictures shared on our Facebook and Twitter pages. We love to see how our products are being used and enjoyed.

My favourite place in the world is…
Being home with my son, my husband and my dog.

The three things I can't live without….
A good book, HBO, lip balm

My favourite beauty tip is…

Curling your eyelashes is the quickest and easiest way to open up the eyes and make you look more awake. It really makes a huge difference and I try to do it every day.
