5 Steps For Glowing Skin

Let’s face it – ‘glowy’ and ‘dewy’ makeup tutorials only work if your skin has a flawless base. A lot of girls think the secret to having a brighter complexion is highlighter, shimmer and dewy serums. And although all those things are wonderful and will give you some sparkle, the ultimate glow comes from taking great care of yourself. There is nothing like a glow that comes from within, literally! The good news is that you can restore your skins natural glow by following these self-care tips below:

1) Get your daily dose of H2O

You hear it all the time (because it’s true) that you need to drink more water! Every cell in your body needs water to perform at its maximum capacity, which includes your skin cells. Your skin is your largest organ (fun fact) and it requires a lot of water to stay replenished. A glowing complexion is a hydrated complexion, so make sure you are drinking water throughout the day. A good general rule of thumb is to drink 6-8 glasses a day.

2) Catch your zzz’s

Everyone is looking for a dark circle cure, and although Vasanti’s Eye Wonder 2.0 exists, your skin will naturally become duller and less replenished if you lack sleep. Putting your body in a sleep-deprived mode will spike your cortisol hormones (also called the stress hormone) which is not friendly to your skin. Not getting proper sleep is known to damage collagen, produce early lines and wrinkles on the face and promote breakouts.

3) Your skin needs to eat its greens

The micronutrients in fruits and vegetables are skin food. A diet rich in natural and whole foods is likely to be high in antioxidants, which protects your skin from all kinds of damage. Foods like tomatoes, watermelon, and asparagus contain lycopene, which is a powerful antioxidant known to have anti-inflammatory effects on your skin. Now you might understand why you notice small breakouts or redness on your face after eating a diet high in greasy foods and processed sugar.

4) Exfoliate your skin at least twice a week

The power of a good exfoliator is often underestimated, just ask all our Brighten Up! fans. Over time, you will have dead skin sitting on the surface of your face which causes dulling of the complexion. By exfoliating a few times a week, you are removing the dead skin and revealing a fresh complexion. This is why people notice an instant difference after using our Brighten Up! scrub, because it reveals new skin!

5) Remove your makeup – properly!

The biggest skincare mistake a lot of women make is not removing their makeup properly. Think about how long your makeup has been sitting on your face and seeping into your pores. Before you go to bed every night, get that gunk out! The best method is to use a makeup wipe to remove makeup off the surface then massage a cleanser into your pores. Wash your face and pat it down dry. Then apply some rejuvenating products to repair your skin overnight.
