Know the Product: Our Matte Crush Lipstick Pencil
Today the star of the show is our Matte Crush Lipstick Pencil: our 2-in-1 lip product that can function as a lip liner or as a lipstick. It is of a matte finish and a smooth and velvety texture that will glide on your lips without tugging or skipping. It’s $23 USD and it comes in a variety of shades, from nude, to red, to berry, so everyone can find at least a shade they will love. It is vegan and cruelty free like most of our products! This is one of our best-sellers and in this article you will find out why: We will talk about the Matte Crush Lipstick Pencil and its formula, the different ways you can use it, our preferred technique for applying it, and even some lip combos we know you will love!
The Matte Crush Lipstick Pencil, as we said before, combines the shape and precision of a pencil with the smooth texture of a lipstick. A good range of shades is something we wanted to make sure we had when we developed this product, we wanted everyone to have a shade they will love and could wear on a daily basis. Doesn’t matter your skin tone, you will find one that will fit you and your style. We know some don’t wear bullet (or in this case pencil) lipsticks in bold shades because of the fear of it looking crazy after you talk, or drink, or eat. There’s nothing worse than feeling that every movement you make is going to smudge your lipstick. When wearing a bold shade (or even a nude one) you have to make sure your lipstick is going to stay with no smudging or feathering. Our Matte Crush Lipstick Pencil is waterproof and long-lasting, so you don’t have to worry about your lips looking like a mess after a couple of hours of wearing it. The formula is made to feel thin and comfortable on the lips the whole time. There’s no need for layering and layering to get full pigment: one swipe is enough to get even pigment through your lips. It has a matte finish that doesn’t dry out your lips when wearing it, but if you have naturally dry chapped lips we recommend you put a thin layer of our Rise Shine Lipbalm and blot the excess before applying the Matte Crush Lipstick Pencil. The matte finish is good not only for the aesthetic, but also because it looks more natural if you decide to over-line your lips as it doesn’t highlight your natural lip line as some more creamy lipsticks do.
Our Matte Crush Lipstick Pencil is made to be used both as a lipstick and as a pencil. Our formula is soft and velvety so it doesn’t tug on your lips, and its pencil-like shape is perfect to get in the outer corners and the cupids bow without accidental over-lining.
To better take advantage of both functions we have curated our own technique for applying it. We know that when it comes to lining your lips and filling in your lips we all have our preferred way of doing it. Of course, they are all valid and would still work perfectly with this product. Still, there’s always a new one to try and this is our recommended way of applying the Matte Crush Lipstick Pencil: When lining your lips is better to start from the outside corner of your lips and trace your lip line from there to the center. This is because of the motion that our hands naturally make, which is rounder and as a result makes the lips look fuller and more natural than the more straight and harsh line that is formed when you do it from the center out. When it comes to your cupid’s bow, we recommend you line it when you have the rest of your upper lip already done as it will be easier having a guide (specially if your overlining your lips). When filling in with color, we suggest you use the same shade or mix in a lighter one for an ombre look that will make your lips look bigger. To make them stand out even more you can use a highlighter and clean around the edges with concealer or foundation to get a shaper and more defined lip look. Feel free to experiment and try out new techniques. This kind of product can be made to look bold and defined or softened if you blend it out with your finger. In makeup there’s not just one correct way of applying it, so take advantage of that!
But sometimes you want the color and not the matte finish. The Matte Crush Lipstick Pencil has a comfortable matte finish, no matter how much or how little you layer it, so for those times you wanna wear a particular shade of our Matte Crush line but would prefer a more creamy or glossy look we suggest you try layering either one of this two products over it:
- You can layer our Ultra Lux Lipstick. This lipstick formula is made with peptides, mango seed oil and coconut oil, designed to hydrate, plump and smooth out your lips. The final result will be a slightly glossy lip color, which will make your lips look fuller and healthier (and that will maintain your lips hydrated all day). Use a similar shade to rock the original Matte Crush color or use a slightly lighter one to create a subtle ombre look that will make your lips look even bigger. Our favorite combinations of Matte Crush and Ultra Lux Lipstick: Natural High-Aruba, It’s Your Mauve-Greece, Rosy Pout-Italy, In The Buff-French Press, Berry First Kiss-Denmark, RedX-Chile , VaVaVoom-Zimbabwe.
- Our Power Oil Lip Gloss is formulated to make your lips look plump and extra shiny. The Jojoba Oil, peach oil and raspberry oil will repair and moisturize your lips while you’re wearing it. This is the perfect product to put over your Matte Crush Lipstick Pencil if your lips are extra chapped or if you just want a pretty glossy finish. Gloss is in again this year, so it is the perfect time to try this formula. Our recommended combos of Matte Crush and Power Lip Oil: Natural High-BFF, It’s Your Mauve-Super Mom, Rosy Pout-Angel, In The Buff-Beauty and Brains, Berry First Kiss-Hero, RedX-First Lady , VaVaVoom-Queen.
Of course you can mix and match it as you want with different lipsticks and liners! We encourage you to experiment with our products and find the way that you love to use them the most. You can always get creative and do more editorial looks or simply just have a little more fun in your everyday look. Dare to wear them however your heart desires! Makeup is just makeup and it washes off at the end of the day.
